Programs and Gear

Abbot Gear

This community loves to show our Abbot All Stars spirit!

We send home order forms for gear twice each year for t-shirts, sweatshirts and sometimes other items. Watch your student’s purple folders for when it’s time to order in fall and spring. There’s often an Abbot Gear day during spirit weeks at the school.

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to recognize their unique strengths, while building a sense of connection in a team setting. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development to enable team members to adapt to whatever comes their way.

School Beautification and Schoolyard Habitat

The PTO oversees the maintenance of the exterior appearance of the school, primarily the courtyard area, and maintains the educational Schoolyard Habitat located in the Abbot courtyard. We aim to have one dedicated maintenance day each in the fall and spring.

Student Support Committee

This committee works to identify areas of tangible unmet needs/concern (e.g. clothing, food) for students and marshall community resources to meet those needs. We keep the Abbot office clothes closet stocked with clothes that are needed throughout the year and provide funds for families who may have needs after a catastrophic event (e.g., house fire).

Washtenaw Elementary Science Olympiad

The Abbot Science Olympiad team is a multi-grade science enrichment program for grades 2-5  that’s part of the Washtenaw Elementary Science Olympiad (WESO). PTO members coordinate details and family or caregivers who are interested in supporting serve as team coaches for each grade level participating.

Teams meet weekly based on student and coach availability to help students discuss and review team materials and study guides, as well as to work with students to prepare for the final WESO competition.

Learn about our Abbot team and email abbotweso@outlook.com for more information.

Yearbook

The PTO coordinates gathering photographs of students from class events, field trips and assemblies for use in the annual Abbot yearbook. We also make style and layout decisions, process yearbook orders, and distribute yearbooks.

You can photos for the yearbook throughout the school year to: yearbookabbot@gmail.com

PTO Council

Abbot PTO participates in the PTO Council (PTOC) — a collection of PTO representatives from each Ann Arbor Public School — through a representative member. PTOC meets monthly to share ideas and provide a unified voice to the district administration. The Abbot representative reports to the Abbot PTO on topics discussed at the meetings that would be of interest to our community.
