Donations and Fundraising

The Abbot Elementary PTO works collaboratively with the education and support staff to enhance the learning environment at Abbot. Fundraising is a necessary component in accomplishing this broad mission. Funds raised by the PTO are used to benefit every Abbot student through school field trips, assemblies, library books, enrichment programs, classroom supplies and other PTO sponsored projects. 

We do not ask Abbot families to sell wrapping paper, magazine subscriptions, cookie dough or pizza kits. Therefore the fundraisers we have in place are key to our continued success.  Please support your child and our school by participating in ongoing fundraisers — grocery rewards programs, shopping at the A2 PTO Thrift Shop, and Dine to Donate events — and our 3 major annual events (Run-a-Thon, Scholastic Book Fair, and Ice Cream Social).

Contributions

To kick off each new school year, the Abbot PTO sends home a welcome letter in students folders asking every Abbot family to voluntarily make a contribution to the PTO, which serves as annual dues. Contributions are the most direct and effective way of making a financial difference at Abbot. 

The suggested minimum per family is $20 and any amount is appreciated. We only ask for money directly from our families once per year.

Donate via PayPal (@AbbotPTO) or drop off a check in the school office made out to the Abbot PTO. 

Because the Abbot PTO is a 501c3 corporation, all contributions are tax deductible and the PTO Treasurer can provide a receipt.  Again, we are truly thankful for any amount of contribution.

Grocery rewards programs

You can automatically earn money for the Abbot PTO when you shop at no cost to you through a number of different grocery reward programs. 

Box Tops for Education

When you purchase qualifying products, you can raise money for our school. Download the Box Tops For Education App on your phone, create a profile, and select Abbot Elementary (Ann Arbor). Scan your receipts (or submit digital ones) and earnings will automatically apply for eligible items.

Arbor Farms

Arbor Farms offers a simple way to support your school when you shop there. Tell the cashier you want to support Abbot Elementary School at checkout. They will then donate 3% of the purchase total. 

Busch's

Help raise funds for Abbot when you shop at Busch’s by enrolling in their Cash for Education program.

Kroger 

Shop at Kroger and a percentage of your purchases will be returned directly to the school by connecting your Kroger Plus Card through their Community Rewards program.

A2 PTO Thrift Shop

Supporting, donating to, and shopping at the A2 PTO Thrift Shop directly supports our school. The PTO receives bonus checks based on how much profit they make. There’s also a dedicated “Support Your School Saturday” for each school in the district where we receive 10% of the day’s sales.

Dine to Donate events

We occasionally host “Dine to Donate” nights where a percentage of sales proceeds go to the Abbot PTO.

Winter Giving

The PTO supports Abbot's Winter Giving campaign organized by the school through both promotion and making purchases. In 2024, we focused on buying much-needed winter clothing for students.
